So who are we, anyway?

otis & clementine’s is a cozy,  locally-owned secondhand bookshop in Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia, Canada.  We have a well-curated, organized, eclectic collection of books. With comfy seating and

organic fair trade coffee, tea and espresso drinks.  Our mission is to live and work locally, contribute to the community, and to keep books out of the landfill.

We have two kids in the local schools. Away from the bookstore, members of our family play basketball, baseball, wrestling and yoga. One of us plays the trombone and baritone. We apparently love superheroes. DC, not Marvel.

One of us wants to run the bookstore when I get old(er). I can’t wait!

Gregg should have been a cowboy [parents from Texas and Alberta!], but growing up in Chester since grade 4, we are counting him as a local. He is an former brewer and still fond of beer.

Ellen is from Chicago, went to the University of Colorado, Madrid for a year for her Spanish Lit major, then returned to Chicago where she did a Masters in Organization Development at Loyola University Chicago, and worked in Human Resources, then non-profit fundraising in Halifax. In 2011 she asked Gregg if they could open a bookstore. God love him, he said OK.

Our community is so supportive, I might have something to pass on to my children!
